A 30-year media, advertising and marketing professional, Gowthaman Ragothaman, mostly known as G’man to many in the marketing fraternity, is now leading a team of industry experts across marketing, data, insights, security and technology in setting up Aqilliz, the first of its kind blockchain solutions company for the marketing industry.
A keen observer of the application of technology in media, advertising and marketing, is convinced that the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) can bring in efficiencies but also the much-needed authenticity and authorisation to the fragmented digital marketing ecosystem. It is this conviction that pushed him to lead GroupM’s global initiative in testing the application of blockchain in marketing in his previous role with WPP.
G’man was recently leading the global relationship for PepsiCo and Pizza Hut at WPP bringing the best of its capabilities towards building stronger brands and greater engagement with its consumer, prior to which he was leading all the strategic initiatives at Mindshare for its FAST (Future Adaptive Specialist Team) unit, focussing on the application of data and technology in advertising.
Starting his career as a media planner from Chennai in India, G’man has spent these 30 years, across multiple geographies, gaining hands on experience at every stage of the value chain from strategy to its execution and in closing the loop, in between, with insights that gives the much needed muscle memory to the entire communications process. He strongly believes that Advertising & Marketing industry is at an inflexion point to reinvent itself for the emerging marketing platform economy, where brands, platforms and consumers are constantly seeking and exchanging value between each other.
